Special Assembly

This week our Cannon scholars attended and participated in an Anti-Bullying Program with former NY Giants linebacker Keith Davis and Isaac Tauaefa, a former UTEP defensive tackle who recently performed on "X-Factor." These highly-engaging speakers talked about making right choices, prioritizing education, and dreaming big. In our Circle Up in class the following day, I heard first hand the great impact their encouraging stories and phrases had on our scholars.

What they said:
  • "Make right choices by listening to right voices."
  • "In life you are not born a winner or loser. You are born a chooser."
  • "What size dream did you chose this morning?"
  • "Persevere until success happens."
  • "Effort, Education, Excellence"
  • "Have a look up attitude. Look up, get up."
What they did:
  • Told stories of how they've overcome low-confidence to achieve their dreams.
  • Showed a metaphor of dreaming big by doing pushups with students/teachers on Isaac's back.
  • Isaac Tauaefa performed a song with his guitar.
  • Selected Jacob, a fourth grade scholar, to wear 2 Super Bowl rings and a USC BCS National Championship Ring.
