Learning Objectives - Week 16

Reading: 

Reading comprehension check.

Writing:  
Freeze Time Boot-camp
- I can plan an write a narrative composition.

Social Studies
:

I can interpret the causes, effects, and significance of major events leading up to the formation of the Republic of Texas (The Alamo, Texas Declaration of Independence, The Runaway Scrape, and The Battle of San Jacinto). 

This week:
  • Cursive Practice (Monday-Thursday) due Friday
  • Reading log - Read 20 minutes each night
  • Spelling words - Practice on SpellingCity App
    • Monday - Scholars will sort their words and receive practice lists. 
    • Friday - Test will include 10 words from the practice list and 4 mystery words that follow the spelling pattern.
    • Students will sort their words into categories as part of the test.

- I can provide facts, details, and explanations to support a central idea.

I can identify early explorers and empresarios while learning about the missions of Texas.
 
This week:

Update: Indoor Recess

Most students would agree that it's nice to go outside for recess, but when rainy or cold weather prevents us from doing so, our students make the best of the situation inside. Here's a look at what indoor recess looks like in our classroom. Students have the opportunity to play educational Apps on their iPads; create and draw using notebook paper, pencils, scissors, and tape; or to quietly interact with their friends.
