Persuasive Texts and Media

Scholars have been analyzing persuasive texts and media. First, scholars focused on the differences between facts and opinions and analyzed the use of facts to support opinions in editorials. We also used the following website to practice identifying facts that support an opinion:

Next, scholars identified and discussed different types of media and how they try to influence their reader/audience. We used the following website to introduce and reinforce these concepts: 





Finally, scholars analyzed catalog products, looking for persuasive language. They created a rubric that could evaluate a persuasive advertisement, and then they imagined, planned, and created a persuasive advertisement for a made up product that would appeal to a consumer.
