Creating Percussion Instruments from Discarded Objects

On Friday, November 9th, grades 3 and 4 will be creating percussion instruments from discarded objects in music class!

These instruments will be played by shaking, scraping, or striking. Some instruments will be attached to a rack in the engineering and design lab. Other instruments may be used in the music room.

Things We Need:

  • Constructions materials, like tape, wire, string, fishing line, zip ties, etc.
  • Containers for small, shakable items
  • Small items to put inside of something else, like rice, seeds, beans, BB’s, etc.
  • Items that you can attach other things to for shaking or hanging
  • Items that sound cool when you strike, shake, or scrape them with something
  • Items that you can strike or scrape things with
  • Items with holes or tools to make holes, like keys, jugs, old pots, etc
  • Anything else you think we might use

Please bring any supplies and drop them off in the music room!

Thanks for your help!
