Fourth grade scholars had a special opportunity to participate in a design challenge as a part of Engineers Week 2016! Students from Grapevine Middle School's STEM Academy visited Cannon and shared with students about how STEM at GMS allows for accelerated math and science, design days, fosters creative and flexible thinking, and supports design thinking in all classes!
For the design challenge, students had twenty minutes to design and construct the tallest tower possible with a large marshmallow balanced on top, using only dry spaghetti, string, and tape as their materials. Scholars were up for the challenge and did an excellent job working with their teams to achieve success!
