This week our scholars went on a text features scavenger hunt, practiced previewing new texts, and enjoyed reading as they continue on their 25 Book Challenge! In Social Studies, they researched and become experts of their assigned Texas Region, formed "Texas Teams," and began preparing a Google Slides presentation that they will present this upcoming week! They also learned characteristics of Stage 1-9 writing and evaluated writing samples using the 12 Stage Writing Rubric. What an eventful week!

Week 2 Update

We had a fantastic week! Our scholars learned about maps, participated in the Cannon Library orientation, and continued to practice their reading skills in class. Excitement was in their air when scholars revisited past writing in their Cumulative Writing Folders (see pictures below) to reflect on how far we have come as writers. We will use these folders again as we analyze their third grade writing and discuss expectations for first draft writing in fourth grade next week!

Week 1 Update

We had a wonderful first week! Our scholars innovated structures in an Oil Derrick Design Challenge using the Engineering Design Process (see pictures below). They also practiced the Reading and Writing Workshop format, Independent Reading expectations, and they wrote about something fun that they did over the summer. Scholars have been working hard to download/delete Apps, organize their iPads, and to set up Google Drive. I expect that our iPads will be a excellent tool to aid your child's learning this school year.
